Irie May, Brand New Granddaughter to Knit For!

She arrived last Monday all perfect (Apgar Score of 9!) and beautiful, sweet and quiet, long fingers and toes like her brother and mother. Just 6 tiny pounds, came to us at 7:00 am June 25th. We live a few hours north of my daughter and am raising my 5 year old granddaughter Madi (different daughter's child) so wasn't able to get there in time for her birth but will leave with the camper Saturday morning to hold her for about 48 hours straight before heading home. I am just so very excited!

Have a ton of goodies trying feverishly to complete: Kraemer 2006 DK newborn size EinsteinCoat, Bolero and Hat from One Skein knits, booties out the butt, an afghan and a quilt or two, a bonnet, teeny-tiny Monkey Socks, an adorable Blue Sky dress and Knitty's Anuok (sp?), you know what I mean! Will post some pics when I get them off the camera. I just need to kiss her little head...

I have let my hair grow out and put a perm in today (loose curls) but now that I think about it, I wasted a few hours of good, quiet knitting time, darn-it! Madi is spending the night at her mom's tonight so I am going to try to stay up all night and get some baby knits done. And what am I doing now? Wasting time online... Love searching for new patterns. Love buying them in downloadable format so I can start right away.

After I get back from our trip this weekend I need to get my arse in gear and get some items done for Etsy. I need stash money to make more things to make/sell. That vicious cycle, huh? But what a wonderful cycle it is! I have some sample lace spindles/bowls, diz's, orifice hooks, stitch markers, stitch guages, scissor fobs, yarn keeper bracelets, lucets, and I'm working on a sleying hook for looms, among many other things, dyed roving, wool and yarn, some homespun and a few patterns. Will let ya know when my Etsy Shop is up. I have big dreams and days go by so fast! We'll see how it goes but that's my plan along with all the knitting/weaving I have planned for my family. I also have that very rotten Fibromyalgia (very advanced) and Degenerative Arthritis that keeps me dogged down 65% of the time. Stay as far away from STRESS as possible! It really can kill a human being!

I shall shut-down this computer and get busy on that little Einstein Coat. I honestly loooove that yarn (Kraemer Vintage 2006 Limited Edition, natural colors: creme, grey, brown and black). Figures, it has to be a 'limited edition' yarn I fall in love with. I have tried to buy as much as I can and it still won't be enough for my lifetime. Try it if you can find some. Like they say, "like buttah". Beautiful yarn!

One question for you guys: I can't remember the name of the tool the old-timers used to hook onto their belts that hooks into a ball of wool to knit while mobile. Similar to a bracelet with the hooks but this one clips on. Has a vintage name. If you know it, please educate me! It's driving me nuts. Hate when something so simple does that. Later!

Back in Blog Land Again

It's been quite some time since I have blogged. Time to get back to it. So much has happened, yet it seems like I posted just yesterday. I'm still raising my beloved granddaughter, Madi. She's now five so I should find time here and there to blog, post pictures and updates on my fiber adventures. Every day I do something (if my Fibro doesn't have me down). Today I received my newest 'baby'; a wonderful Kick Spindle! Geez I love it! What fun! (The photo is from the auction page where I bought it. The Fords do a wonderful job making them and it spins like mad!) I did not realize the OLD posts were still here. Have I ever aged and turned grey. That photo was three years ago - wow! Margo now lives out in the country with her new Man/Dog and is sopposed to have pups this year. We all miss her terribly but she's doing just great.

I collect spindles and have three full-size wheels but this "kicker" is just so darn cute, portable, and really works! Makes a real handspun looking yarn. The best treat is it won't take up any room at all in the camper! I used to take the Babe camping because it is easy to clean any dirt off, lightweight, portable, dependable and less expensive to replace in case a bear walked off with it.

I am up to my ears in unfinished projects - four of those giganto huge zip lock bags full. No wonder I have no needles left, they're all in my projects! I also am frantically trying to finish up grandbaby items. My daughter Sarah is due within two weeks with my newest granddaughter and I can't stand the wait! So far her name is Iree Piper. Took me a bit to get used to but now I just love it and hope they don't change it last minute. Tonight and tomorrow I'm planning on finishing a newborn size Baby Einstein Jacket from "The Knit Stitch" book in cream colored Kraemer 2006 DK yarn. Soooo soft!  But with playing with the Kicker and settingup this blog I haven't touched it
today. So I'm going to go get a few rows done before I doze off. Tomorrow I'll fix my links. Nitey nite!

My Babe's Spinning Wheel was along for my last camping trip of the season. It's getting cold out now so I spin indoors until next summer!

Newborn set of booties and a wonderful cap with leaf edging for a friend's baby boy.

A retro Granny Poncho for my granddaughter! Currently making another for her younger sister.

Fun gift from my Secret Knitting Pal! Some Limbo Mexiko, candy, hot chocolate, flower magnet and loads of fun!

Some recent projects

Here are a couple of things I recently finished. I have soooo many projects that I am working on, I don't know if any will ever be completed! I need to just pick one a day to work on!
